I had a Carvin Belair 212 that was a fantastic match with my Strat. I thought their amps & guitars where a great value.
Carvin Audio, RIP. A little late.
Sad to have just learned that Carvin Audio is closing/has closed after 70-ish years. Mostly pro audio, guitar and bass amps, etc., after shifting guitars to Kiesel. But, I believe some folks used some of Carvin's gear for home audio with some level of success.
Have a gorgeous spalted maple top custom job.
Maybe my Steve Vai Legacy 3 stack becomes an instant classic.

Probably has been a money loser for some time, being in California, I have a 20 year old Tele body, with a Koa top, wilky tremolo. Killer ’do it all" guitar. Doesn’t see much daylight, though. I prefer my beat up Gibson LP Special thru a Fender 65 DRRI. Impossible to compete with the Fender corporate machine.I read somewhere that Guitar Center never has been profitable? Edit:I read this went on couple of months ago. Misread your post, thinking the ENTIRE company(guitars) is done.I see just the pro sound gear is done. Guitars still made in Escondido, CA facility. Wasn't aware the audio and guitar mfg. split awhile ago. |
roberjerman There are fewer people today compared to decades past willing to spend the time and effort to learn to play a musical instrument! Is that true? On what do you base this claim? |
just thought everyone would get a giggle out of this. Good ol Joe, talking about Carvin https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7HOX5cUA6ps |
Many years ago I had a solid state guitar amp. I ordered online the Carvin vintage 16 with el84 tubes. It was my first tube “anything”. It sounded so sweet, nuanced and smooth at loud volume in 5 watts (i think!) triode mode. This is what got me into tubes in high end audio. Still have and love the Carvin. I also have a beautiful Carvin acoustic. My point is if I never had bought the amp - I may never have gotten into tube audio! Now I wish I can find the last catalog I got from them...lots of great players play Carvin - sad to see this side of the biz go... |
