Great thread @jayctoy
Had I prefaced or appended my statement with "in my opinion", that might help alleviate a lot of whats going on.
Also, I think if folks were to listen to the heart of gold band more often, that too would be helpful. Isn't that what our gear is meant for anyway?

arafiq - ....See what happened on the Goldenear Reference thread. The OP was asking for opinions from people who have either heard OR own the speakers. I chimed in and provided my opinion. I was upfront about the fact that I had heard it at dealer showrooms twice, but one of the posters started calling the opinions as 'laughable' and 'crap' and accusing me of doing a great disservice. I quickly bailed out of that discussion, but this is another form of bullying where the owners resort to tough language to drive out dissenting viewpoints. ... Hi arafiq. I'm sure you're aware I am not the one you are referring to. That said, while I cannot speak/write for the particular poster you are referring to, I shall extend an apology simply on the basis that I'm a Golden Ear Triton Reference owner who also happened to post in that same thread. All the best. |
Every forum should have a restricted area for those members who just want to have an argument. If their behavior suggests that's all they want, their account access should be restricted to only that area for a prescribed period of time. And, I suspect everyone knows which member this restricted area is most appropriate for. 🤣 |
This post is worth repeating:
And, I suspect everyone knows which member this restricted area is most appropriate for. 🤣

@kdude66
No. Not you. Close though, if you get my drift 😃 |
2channel8, I get your point. In fact, I agree. Admittedly, at times I'm guilty as charged. This is why I support the restricted area suggested by arafiq. Sort of like a flash back to the days of "see ya after school".
IMO, this site is about entertainment, amusement, and enjoyment in as much as it about our quest for audio nirvana by learning all there is to know and sharing ideas. Everyone who has been around on this site for a while knows the members with encyclopedic knowledge and those who are circus clowns. So, as lloydc intelligently points out, it becomes rather easy to sift through threads and just skip over those posts you don't care to read.
The aforementioned said, here is an idea for some improved forum functionality. Hopefully the moderators will read this, take it to heart, and get it in the hands of the IT staff for development and implementation.
My idea/proposal is that the OP of any particular thread should also be afforded the function of removing any particular post and/or blocking a poster altogether from his/her thread. That would clean things up rather nicely, IMO.
Time to listen to some music.... |
geoffkait - >>>>Calm down, lloyd. You’re getting yourself all exercised. Also, please spell Machina Dynamica correctly. Carry on with your ranting and raving. ...After all, I don't misspell, carry on, rant and rave. |
stereo5 - @geoffkait..I hate to burst your bubble, but I find you to be one of the most sarcastic and most annoying person(s) in these forums. And I find him to be ***thee most sarcastic and annoying*** person in the forum. EDIT: parasitic would be a one word discriptor |
michaelgreenaudio - I hadn’t looked at this thread in a while, but when I did just now didn’t some of you miss one of Geoff’s points. Not I. Geoff has no point. I'm not one who believes the ability to measure anything is the whole premise.It's not. Measurements can be part of the story yes, but the not the whole story. Maybe you missed the point? One shouldn't state the impossible and then expect to not be asked for any kind of proof to back said statement. No obligation to provide it, of course. I also believe a simple blind test can be a useful mechanism for establishing proof. |
jon_5912 - I hate to pile on but in addition to having an unbearable personality, kait is probably high end audio message boards' most recognizable charlatan. I say if for the benefit of anyone who's new to the hobby and isn't familiar with the teleportation tweak, etc. +1 some synonyms, in no particular order: delusional, fictitious, parasitic, liar, voodoo, sarcastic |

EVERYONE
I am proud to report that my suggestion in this thread on 04-14-2018 12:26pm ****is going to be CONSIDERED by Audiogon development staff****.
To reiterate the suggestion:
The OP of any particular thread should also be afforded the function of removing any particular post and/or blocking a poster altogether from his/her thread.
|
@geoffkait
see previous post.. sorry if there are or will be any withdrawal symptoms... |
unsound - Gdhal, You may proud of the suggestion, but I think it’s a terrible idea. I didn’t realize there was any such thing as a terrible idea. In any case, it will be interesting to find out what Audiogon thinks as opposed to what those who state the impossible think, with the assumption they even do so. |
stereo5 - .....gdhal I too think it’s a terrible idea. If implemented, anything another person says that the OP doesn’t like can delete their post. I thought we are in a Democracy?
Think it through though. The same functionality and more would be available. Democracy, yes. To your point, technically the same thing could happen now. The OP would simply need to make a personal request (not simply the use the report link) to AG support. It just takes a bit longer that way. Additionally and even more important and compelling, if the OPs intentions were/are genuine then he/she wouldn’t do as you suggest, right? Otherwise, other posters within the thread might decide there is unnecessary and biased censorship by the OP, and also willingly elect not to post in the thread. The concept keeps everyone in check. Furthermore, if a "clique" forms (which will likely happen) in certain threads, those on the opposing side of the clique could start their own thread, and refer to posts being made by members in the other thread. Again, keeping everyone in check. Theoretically, if all members believe the function isn’t a good idea, it wouldn't get any usage. There is no requirement or obligation for the OP to use it. Therefore, the current functionality remains identical to the way it is now. Consider the usefulness of the feature/function and what it is intended to do. |

Hi Geoff. I appreciate the thoughtful question. How did you know I like pumpkin? 😛 |
geoffkait - ....No controversial audiophile tweak has ever been proven to be a hoax or a fraud. - old audiophile axiom.
@geoffkait Nor has the impossible ever been proven to be the possible. An old opportunistic axiom. 🤑 |
@kosst_amojan
You mean you don't understand geoffonese? 😁 |

Kindness can be contagious. Just sayin....🙂 |
oblgny - ...However I have witnessed some incredibly funny, witty, and intelligent back and forths between and amongst members that are highly entertaining for me - and very possibly for them too... +1 |
erik_squires - - Haha! I thought everyone missed that.
I didn't miss it. I've pointed out more than once that anything written by almarg and/or atmasphere can be likened to Shakespeare in that there is such genius behind it that one simply cannot just read it once and get all there is out of it.
