Rhodium vs Gold AC connectors

Hi dear fellows.Does anybody tried these type of connectors in power cords? In my case I don`t know which could be the differences in sound performances between them.I heard that rhodium connectors have more extended hights frequences , more airy and fluid than gold connectors, but also that they can produce a non-lively sound, with too much control.Regarding Gold connectors I red that they produce a warmer sound, specially in the mids, but with not so much detail as rhodium. Is it true?I will appreciate your comments to make a proper decision. Thanks in advance!Raf

Bo1972, are the pcs otherwise identical?

Audiolabyrinth, I have not taken them apart, but the IEC plug is much longer and probably contains many magnets.

My fear in taking them apart is whether I could get put back together.
For years I used Eagle outlets having compared the three major brands available then. Then I moved to the Hubbel HBL5362 Extra Heavy Duty Industrial Series. Unfortunately the first one of these I got had been cryogenically by Jena Labs. It was fortunate that I had only one treated. Much later I tried the Oyaide R1 and was disappointed. The Oyaide R0, however, proved better. I will soon have my HFC Waveguide power center back with Furutech GTX duplexes. I was about to replace the Porter Ports in it with the special Hubbels, but Scholtz says the GTXs are great.

Apart from comparing cartridges, comparing outlets is my least favorite activity.
Rja, I don't think comparative listening really helps with outlets, cartridges, speakers, or ac plugs and IECs. Cables, however, are easier.
Audiolabyrinth, you were quite lucky to talk with Elliot. He is very knowledgable and open.

I still want to know how IsoClean decides how the directional arrow goes. In my testing of their fuses, I never found the arrow wrong if I knew which way it was designed to be inserted. Most manufacturers have the hot go into the circuit and the neutral come from the circuit.

When there weren't many fuses in the circuit, one could usually learn where the hot went in terms of the fuse holder.
I never have had anything with gold plating that sounds good. Everything just sound burnished and slow.
Audiolabyrinth, I had the Furutech Gtx-d (r) outlets put into my HFC Waveguide power center as well as their Fi-03 IEC and the wire was updated at the same time. I would imagine that both contributed to my improvement. Remember, however, that I have never liked gold plating or solid.
I compared the Oyaide R0 and R1 and much preferred the R0, but the GTX/Dr is clearly the best. But I really think evaluating outlets is the greatest pain.
Michelzay, I had solid silver outlets from Stealth. They would not hold the power cords in. I have my outlets upside down relative to how most are installed. Commonly the outlet has the grounds at the bottom. Actually, I been told this is a violation of many cities' codes. As the ground is longer and wider having it at the top holds the pc in better.
Audiolabyrinth, I did what you suggest on an amp. with heatsinks on the back and a hardwired ac cord. One can buy male IEC connector that go on cables. I bought one and left about three inches on the existing pc and attached the IEC male. I then just plugged a better pc with an IEC female into it and on to the wall.

I am not sure that Furutech make such a piece, however. I should also note that I did sell the amp later and felt I needed to include the ac cord.
Audiolabyrinth, presently in NM I have the LSA speakers, stands for them and a H-Cat preamp and amp. I also have Zilplexes which have made the tiny 10 x 13 x 8' room usable. The rest of my system when I'm there has to be shipped or transported from Texas and then back. I really can only do x versus y reviews there.
Audiolabyrinth, Sound Applications has always stated that 20 amp IECs and plugs sound better than 15 amp ones. This is very difficult to check so I have never done so. While the wall plug end can be done fairly easily the IEC end would be a great pain.
I think that there is little question that copper is the best cabinet as well as the best material for ac transfer. But it is just too soft. I talked with Furutech at the CES, and was told that Beryllium copper is just insufficiently conductive. I have tried the Oyaides R1 and R0 outlets and prefer the R0s. I do hate gold plated contacts, preferring the rhodium plating. So right now I will live with the rhodium plating.
Melbguy1, yes I did try the GTX-Dgs but didn't like them as much as the GTX-Drs.
Melbguy1, I gave up on having my system on Audiogon. It kept getting deleted and screwed up. Here is my system.

Audiolabyrinth, please tell me what wpos are.

I guess I could put two systems together but I only have one real listening room. I know many with two if not three listening rooms.
Audiolabyrinth, at CES I talked with Furutech about why they did not have beryllium copper GTX-Ds. The answer was conductivity. I asked whether solid copper with gold or rhodium plating was better. He said yes, if it was thin plating. My present wall plug is an R0 which is solid beryllium copper. I am awaiting another GTX-Dr for it.
Rafael0054, I had always thought that any plating had adverse effects on sound. I have two quite technically competent friends with the one hating rhodium and one loving it. I have no negative reactions to rhodium on power cords or outlets. I do have my continued negative reaction to gold wires or gold plating. With no pun intended, gold in ics, on ac power anywhere, and for speaker wires always has a glow to it that is slow and smeared.

The real question is whether or not there is anything better than rhodium. What about platinum, silver, palladium. We all know that copper oxide is not very conductive.

Right now I'm sticking with rhodium on the HFC power cords and waveguided power center and no gold anywhere.
Audiolabyrinth, ironically, when I put my dedicated line in 26 years ago, I had big tube amps and on turn on they kept tripping the 20 amp breakers. The electrician warned me about 30 amp breakers and I had them installed.

I think a furutech fi-50(r) is what the female output connection on the HFC pcs was before modification.
Bo1972, might I ask how you came to this conclusion? Personally I have liked the Oyaides R0 more than the R1.
Melbguy1, I sought to do just that but Audiogan has no such provision. I am certainly not commercial.

But it suggests your desperation to denigrate the High Fidelity cables that you would dig it up. I make no effort to deny my reviewing. Do you hide some of your association?
Bo1972, I admire your patience with assessing outlets and plugs. For once I wish there was total agreement on these.
Melbguy1, I didn't say that you wanted to say I was a commercial member. What I said was that Audiogon has no provisions for noting reviewers. I had sought to do so as I did on Audioasylum.

I sorry if you thought I over-reacted but I found your posting very accusatory.

Audiolabyrinth, I don't exactly know what a pro reviewer is but thanks. If it means that you think I am paid, you are wrong. I am a retired college professor and entertain myself with audio. Like all trade, reviewers usually get "accommodation" pricing, which mainly is about wholesale pricing.

Remember that it is often useful for a reviewer to have multiple amps, line stage, phono stages, cables, pcs, etc. when doing reviews.
Michelzay, amen!

Swampwalker, I am a reviewer, but it is still only my opinions in my reviews. You may find that you agree with me in your personal opinions when you get to hear whatever I review is.

Audiolabyrinth, you are a reviewer but without an outlet other than here.
Melbguy1, don't let anyone bother you. No one trusts anyone else's opinions here and should not. Perhaps over time you can find your opinions correspond with someone here. But in reality it is not good science to trust anyone.
Bo1972, if your drivers are in a vertical array, you need to be certain that they are perfectly vertical.
