I recently read on the Synergistic Research web site that the Plugs must be up and down when plugged into a wall outlet. This assuming the the ground pin hole is below the hot and neutral slots on the wall outlet, correct?

Synergistic New Tesla Line...Any comments?
I just bought Synergistic Research's new Tesla Accelerator speaker cables and Tesla Vortec interconnects from The Cable Company. I have tried many demo cables from The Cable Company over the past year. These were the first to give me that WOW factor I been looking for so long.
Does anyone have these cables and can you please post your impressions and comments? Thanks.

My findings as well-when you go 100% Tesla your system takes a BIG step forward beyond the incremental steps you enjoyed while adding new Tesla cables along the way. Are you a sales rep for Synergistic by any chance? Most of your recent posts espouse the benefits of using 100% Tesla cabling, and the posts start to take on somewhat of a marketing tone. So, I'm just curious. |

My findings as well-when you go 100% Tesla your system takes a BIG step forward beyond the incremental steps you enjoyed while adding new Tesla cables along the way. Posting this again, Leica_man, in case you missed my question. Are you a sales rep for, or affiliated with Synergistic Research? |
You ask a direct question, so why not direct it to that person via email?Because the answer affects how the opinion is weighed by the readers. A user's opinion is viewed differently from a rep's, because the agendas are different. You have no experience with the cables in question, yet you continue to post to this thread... why?Interest in the product, and in the people expressing opinion. |
4-11-08: Leica_man Thanks. The best advice I can give is try them for yourself. What will it cost you a little time? It will be well worth the time spent. What source for these cables provides them at no cost and without a re-stocking fee? I know The Cable Company charges a percentage of the retail price as a lending charge. I believe it was going to cost me ~$80 to audition some Accelerator speaker cables. |
Then, the answer to the question, "What will it cost you other than your time?", seems to be $80 plus shipping if the cables are returned. I have seen used Tesla cables available for significantly less than The Cable Company's price. Therefore, I'd look to buy a used pair. Re-selling used cabling often ends up a zero sum game, especially for the Hot-Cable-Of-The-Moment. |
Thank you Grant for being our advocate... God bless you!I gave an honest answer to your question, and I respectfully thanked Leica_man for his reply, which I genuinely appreciate. There were at least two Audiogon members who were wondering the same thing as I. Why you chose to respond with a disingenuous remark is beyond me. I really thought as a dealer you were more professional. |
I don't understand the concept of 300 hours of break-in on cords that have already undergone "Quantum Tunneling" conditioning at the factory. I recently purchased some Gregg Straley Reality speaker cables...$250 for an 8 foot pair. Gregg suggests 20 hours to "settle in" to one's system. The cables sounded great right out of the box, and they don't sound appreciably different 14 days later. Still great. |
04-26-08: Fplanner2000You are running the APL direct rather than through your VAC preamp, yes? Otherwise, I don't believe raising the volume on the APL's DAC would have an effect if you're using it through your preamp. Although, having the H Attenuator switched on while running the APL through a preamp WILL have a detrimental effect on the sound (I did this myself once). |
That doesn't make sense to me, since the H Attenuator must either be turned on or off to work properly (my understanding is it should be turned off when running through a preamp), but if you say it's working for you, then that's all that matters. |
Is it surprising that one has to have all Synergistic power products and isolation products (and preferably the top-of-the-line products) to really experience the best sound? This has been the standard marketing strategy of every power accessory manufacturer that I can recall. Keeps a constant flow of Benjamins from wallet to company bank account. I can't be the only one who recognizes this strategy. |
03-12-10: TbgYou're the closest thus far based on your posts in this thread. No doubt you have paid retail for all the SR goodies, yes? While all the followers write their checks in an attempt to keep up with the new Synergistic drum major? |
03-13-10: TbgQuote me where I've stated that, please. Do you pay full retail for everything?Small discounts off of retail for some items. Maybe 10-15%. The rest I buy used. Why are you so suspicious of designers' works?I like to see manufacturer's back their claims with evidence. There's plenty of marketing BS in high end audio. Look at the early DK Designs amp for details. I see that you got yourself into a tither over the Devialet D-Premier amp. That was a mistake that I regret. Upon further info provided by Almarg, who is a true gem of a researcher, proof of the patent was provided. I am sure you are a proponent for truth and justice in the world.Of course. Aren't you? Since you beat, beat, beat the SR drum and others are encouraged to spend, spend, spend based on your raves, it's only fair for them to know if they are on a level playing field. |
Adweigert, it's a pattern repeated with more products than SR. Some of us attend shows such as RMAF and CES and hear the demos and want to try the product.I attend CES and RMAF also. I find it impossible to evaluate individual components within a system and in a room with which I have no familiarity. At best, I can only draw a conclusion about the overall sound in the rooms. How does one approach determining the efficacy of power conditioning products and vibration control tweaks in this scenario? I'd like to take what I learn here with me to next October's RMAF and apply it to my evaluations. |
Quantum Ground Lifter...a Leviton 3 prong to 2 prong adapter. It clearly says Leviton on the adapter in the photo. Can't wait to see how much this super-duper SR/Leviton cheater plug sells for. |
I don't believe it's the truth. That's why. As much as you dissect your system, and as much as you have discussed the grounding scheme in your system, it's simply inconceivable that you would forget the details of an item that solved such an important issue in your system. It doesn't add up. So, I don't believe you when you say you don't remember how much you paid for them...or that perhaps you didn't pay for them, whichever is the truth. |
Again why have you posted nothing on your experiences with the MIGs?Still experimenting/evaluating. Why have you yet to visit SR as you are so nearby and were invited? No time, plus Ted's sailing to Hawaii. I get tired of your conspiratorial tone of voice always and really why.You bring it upon yourself. |
Boy, Tbg that's a lot of questions. Sheesh. You own half the catalog of SR products, and you talk them up as if you're a paid SR spokesperson. Maybe it's just me, but I get private messages from others sharing the same opinion. Why are you so interested in the price of the SR cheaters?Interested to know the price in comparison to Leviton cheaters purchased from any hardware store. It all developed out of my asking Ted if he knew of any good cheaters. Can you not believe that?Yes, I can believe that. Yet you still don't answer the question about how much you paid for them. Do you own any SR products that you inveigle yourself in discussions of products which don't interest you, especially, as you don't seem to learn anything from others' experiences?First of all, nice pull with inveigle. Can't say I ever heard that word. Had to look it up. It appears you used it incorrectly in the context of your statement however. I own two sets of MiG footers, which I am evaluating. This was stated earlier in the thread. I learn plenty from others' experiences. Many contributions in these threads have been invaluable over the years. Thanks for the chat! |
I have a SVS PB 13 Ultra with a Phase 2 RCA with a factory power cord, each of you in different thread tell me an upgraded RCA and power cord in the Tesla series for my beast.I'm a believer in after market wire, but in the case of a subwoofer, I wouldn't spend any significant money upgrading the power cord and RCA interconnect. Use a good quality, shielded, 9awg or 10awg power cord, and use the Phase 2 interconnect and you're good to go, IMO. Spend these dollars on wire elsewhere in the system. |
06-17-10: TbgWhat experience do you have to generalize this to *most* systems? I have yet to see a system at RMAF or CES that had all the grounds lifted except for one component. My system, in its various iterations, has never sounded better with all component grounds lifted except for one (the preamp). In fact, doing so causes problems that go away when everything is grounded. I'm not saying that most systems will sound better with everything grounded, but I am saying I have heard many more systems installed in this fashion than not. |
IMO, the effects of lifting grounds or not lifting grounds is completely system dependent and household AC dependent, and neither approach can be generalized as being best in a majority of situations. I believe grounding is perhaps the least understood and most easily screwed up aspect of high end audio installations. It really takes a seasoned audio pro to diagnose grounding problems. I have recently been through this, and the solution was only determined after thorough and systematic troubleshooting. This after I had checked all the outlets with a polarity/ground tester for proper installation. My original fix utilized a ground lifter, but after working with the tech it was determined that the ground lifter was only a band-aid solution. |
