Johnny Cash and Jonie Mitchell "Girl from the North Country".
Whats playing on your system today?
Today I decided to listen to two of my favorite rock guitar heros and one great vocalist. Guitarist' Robin Trower, Ronnie Montrose and vocalist Davey Pattison.
I listened to Trower songs:
Bridge of sighs, Stitch in time, The fool and me, my personal favorite- Too rolling stoned and others.....
Then I pulled out "Gamma".
I listened to: Razor King, Wish I was and Skin and bone and others.....
Davey Pattison hooked has also up with Michael Shenker also. I really enjoyed my day so far. Anybody else heard anything good?

...Smashing Pumpkins "Siamese Dream"... ( I saw The Smashing Pumpkins locally around 15 years ago. At this time, D'arcy was replaced by the bassists from Hole, Jimmy Chamberlin had ongoing drug issues and it was not a given that he would continue as their drummer. Jimmy was still featured by his drum kit being more, front and center, and I still recall this as one of my "moments" when I realized how great of a drummer he was/is. They performed a cover of Van Halen's "Everybody Wants Some" that was epic!) AC/DC "High Voltage" ++ Cheers! |
Phenomena, S/T. This has Glen Hughes and a whole stack of other talent. A little different sound on this one. Link below is for song title "Dance with the devil". https://youtu.be/BJRHvZGA-c8 N |
I spun my Glenn Hughes, The way it is. First time listening with the loaner set of Paul’s Clear Day Double Shotgun’s. Wow! radfrad, Marc Bonilla is the guitarist on the recording. Worked with ELP, Montrose, David Coverdale. However, when you search Hughes’ discography, you’ll find he has played with just about every guitar hero out there. N |
Glen Hughes. The way it is. I listen to it on my road trip, the Keith's Emerson stuff sounds just great with Glen Hughes Certainly a ELP signature sound. Sonically well recorded on my home system On a side note.,The Guitar on the Cd is just great also as mentioned before "Glen knows good musicians who to play with" i need to study over the guitar heroes names that Glen Plays with more as I'm unclear who they are R |
James Gang, "Yer Album" & "Thirds". Not usually a fan of remasters but these sounded pretty good on The Spot w/headphones and now on the main system. Ordered them from Amazon Prime for $5.00 each. Supposedly Bill Szymczyk was involved in these June 2000 remasters. Nice detail and separation. Neither sounds hot or shrill. BTW - the bass playing by Tom Kriss on Yer Album is just excellent. A sort of 2nd lead approach; Jack Bruce sounding. Great tone. They did an excellent job recording the bass on this one. Don’t understand why he only did the one album with Joe. http://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/james-gang-tom-kriss.244993/ |
oleschool, Kerry Livgren, Seeds of change is a solo project. It is a great listen. Full of great contributing artists. The albumn was recorded very well, the CD is good. Kerry actually even sings on one this (and I believe his wife did some backing vocals?) Steve Walsh sings on a cut. Ronnie James Dio sings on two. Violins from Robbie Steinhardt of Kansas. Drums by Phil Ehart and Tull druumer Barrimore Barlow. Vocalist David Pack of Ambrosia. N |
mapman, Big Uriah Heep fan! I received a set of loaner Clear Day Double Shotgun's and two wire Jumpers from Paul yesterday. I have about 10 hours of listening on them now. I had two full runs of Audioquest Gibralter w/dbs as a true biwire set up. So far the Clear Day'are not disappointing! I wanted three wire jumpers, but the twin lead was all he had available for loan. The first thing I noticed on The Eagles Hell Freezes Over CD is the audience sounds more lifelike than with the AQ. Next, the hi-hat was crisper and the snare drum is a bit hotter. Nice. Joe Walsh and Timothy B Schmit's silibant's are right on point. On Ann Bisson, I live in the Treetops, her vocals are amazing with the dead quiet balanced Ayre CX7emp, Classe' CP-60 with the outboard power supply and the Dual mono Levinson. On Incubus, Morning View,,,,this CD has bass in spades! Very nimble, fast very tight with the Totem Hawks with their amazing long throw woofer. Better control and weight over the AQ Gibralter. No bloat or overhang. The disc also has a DJ that provides tons of additional sound effects. They are all heard through the Clear Day Cables. Hand claps sound more natural also. So far the Clear Day Cables appear to perform very well, at least in my system, room etc. N |
Ray Davies See My Friends. My teenage daughter actually sits and listens with me in the family room while doing her thing. She soaks it all in quietly and asks me about music playing she does not know of all genres. Album art and track info displays on big screen tv as we listen. I usually put my music server on random track play so anything can come up anytime. She knows a lot about music and likes the 80sand Michael Jackson in particular best. Plays violin in her school orchestra as well. It's nice to be able to expose kids to good sound and music of al kinds Los Lobos Do the Murray playing now. |
George Lynch, Sacred groove.....one of my guitar hero's. George is fantastic on this one. Also included are vocals from Mathew and Gunner Nelson and one track featuring the great Glenn Hughes. I like the last track best. "Tierra Del Fuego". https://youtu.be/UhhvEwZXC5w https://youtu.be/1Cn7t1QVNgE N |
