Computers and audio, perhaps its too soon
Sony got a lot of flack for this, so they have removed it and recalled all of these disks. If you get one that tries to install a program, just reject it.
new updates in transports or are they obsolete ?
A good hard-drive system can run the range from <$2K to over $4K. For under $2K you can have an Off-Ramp Turbo with a stock new Benchmark DAC-1. You will not believe how great this sounds. If you have to have the very best (the additional impro...

Baddabob - The CEC transport will not even come close. I've modded them. If I were to fully mod-out the CEC transport and then rewrite all of your CD collection on black CD's using my modded battery powered CD-burner, only then would it come close...

"I assumed jitter will not apply to this case when data are read from HD and broadcast over WiFi."Yes, the jitter is bad from the AE optical output. It can be modded to add coax out. This is much better."Is that the theoretical best setup for soun...

Averages 30MBytes, but some tracks may be 50 MBytes. It talks about this in my paper.
Hard Drive based system
Morbius is correct, if the master clock is local to the DAC chip itself, then the jitter will be minimized. This is not necessarily the case with external "bit clocks" that a few DAC's and CD players utilize. This is often more difficult than it s...
Possessed HTPC
Probably power ground-loops. If you plug everything into a single circuit, this should not happen. Also, try ungrounding the monitor.
Optical or Coax Digital Out to a D-A Converter?
Digital electrical interfaces should have lower jitter than optical unless they are really poorly implemented.
Hard Drive based system
Read this white-paper that I wrote that just got published on positive-feedback.com:http://www.positive-feedback.com/Issue22/nugent.htm
Hard Drive based system
You bet. It's the DAC AND the converter both. See this article I wrote on Computer Audio:http://www.positive-feedback.com/Issue22/nugent.htm
Philips 963 SA -transport
It's one of the best transports that I have modded, and it costs a lot less to mod. It sounds as good without a Superclock as other player WITH a Superclock inside. Not the most reliable one though. You can get a lemon...
Audiophile USB to PCM
Edsilva - if you look in the "components" folder of Foobar200 in Program Files, the ASIO .dll should be there if you are using it.
Audiophile USB to PCM
Is ASIO something they could have licensed and baked into the ESI24.dll driver?Very possible.

How come there is no thread on the RealityCheck?
TBG - I have no idea what has been done to the RC burner. I may not be much better than some standard CD-R or DVD-R burners. The one that I am modding should be substantially better than anything that can be purchased because it wil have Supercloc...
