| VSA VR-4: problem with midrange drivers VSA manual does suggest that they will sound better bi-wired or bi-amped.Also, I am not clear as to how to vertically bi-amp. My speaker cables are not identical, I'm using MIT on the bottom end and Synergistic on the top.I called VSA when I bough... | |
| VSA VR-4: problem with midrange drivers I would start by using another amp entirely. Have you tried them in NON-biamped config? That's where I would start before replacing speaker drivers, or sending amps in for service. Also, if you have identical amps I would vertically biamp them, th... | |
| To big to fail? What road are we headed down? hmmm, I've hated CD packaging since the first one I bought. Especially that strip of tape that seals the case and never comes off in one piece (or even 5 pieces)! I agree pretty much with everything the OP says. I too find a high % of broken cases... | |
| Another Bi-Amp Question Theoretically, is it 260 watts into the speaker?no, it's 130 watts into each speaker. Not theoretical. Actual.Given your responses so far - if I were you I'd try it. it'll cost you nothing but your time (except you'll need another speaker run unle... | |
| Another Bi-Amp Question 130 watts into your speakers isn't an issue so long as you don't over drive them. That said, you need to make sure your speakers are wired such that they can be biamped. The mfg will tell you this. That said, the only way you could do this with your... | |
| Parasound A-23s in mono or A-21 another option could be to vertically biamp with 2 A23s. I'm not familiar with your speakers but I've had better results biamping one of my speaker systems than using a higher power amp. I would not monoblock the A23's - go with the A21 instead. | |
| Classical Music: A How-To Guide for Beginners great thread! keep it coming (for is novices)By the way, I agree with Tgyeti - Chamber music is easier to digest in my experience, but it's also fund to have the "chamber" be in your listening room. I find most orchestra music recordings don't ima... | |
| Good speakers for a small room? Totem Sttaf, as long as you can have them placed somewhat out from the back wall. | |
| Overseas Pay Pal, your experiences. I've sold to individuals in multiple countries in Europe and Asia and accepted paypal without a single issue. | |
| Looking for Amp/preamp suggestions are you trying to stay under $400 for both amp and preamp? Do you want a remote controllable preamp? | |
| Speaker Question...first post on the gon Parasound will tell you (at least this is what they told me) that running those amps in bridged mode is sub-optimal, and that if you want the best full bandwidth performance you should run them un-bridged. They recommend "Single Stereo" which uses... | |
| Recommend tube meter the $8 meter from Harbor Freight works great for biasing amps. If you spend more than that for a meter, make sure it has auto range detection, otherwise it's not worth the extra $'s. I picked up a couple of the HF meters for $4 each off of a sale ... | |
| How many hours per week do you listen to music? Critical (or semi critical) listening - ~ 10-20 hrs/weekWhile working - another ~20-25 hrs/week. | |
| multichannel amps with individual level controls? forgive the question, but if you're using a multichannel amp (ie identical amps, identical sensitivity) to bi-amp , why do you need level controls? | |
| DIY tube amps? too many to name, though maybe someone else has a favorite. I think it depends on what you want to do. TP's suggestion is best. There is a lot of good info, and resources. This can be a real adventure. |
