Dynavector XX2 and Phonomena Musical Surroundings
According to the website the Phonomena has adjustable loading from 30 ohms - 100 k-ohms in 128 steps. Seems pretty flexible. Dynavector recommends a load of >30 ohms on the cartridge. Typically you should load the cartridge where it sounds best...
Review: Bent Audio Tap Linestage
"I still think many, not all by any means, offer a somewhat euphonic coloration that some people love and find to be more "musical" to their ears or in the synergy of their systems." Excellent point Teajay. I have a K&K TVC that uses S&B T...
Power Conditioners Suited to Digital Front End
Why not try this experiement, which is totally risk free. Contact Robert at Ridge Street Audio and buy a few of his Z-der blocks. These units perform power factor correction. If you're using dedicated lines and want to continue to take advantage o...
Audio Logic 24MXL compared to Audio Logic 34MXL
Ezra,Didn't you have your 24MXL modified by TRL? Also, what happened to the Esoteric X03 combo?
platine motor with nylon thread
Ken,Thanks for the information. I have seen the Stren superbraid online at Dicks and Modells. I'm using a Scheu Analog Premier table and one of the upgrades recommended is to ditch the nylon thread they supply and get fishing line. This will be an...
platine motor with nylon thread
Ken,On the Spider Line website it lists the Spider Wire original braid 125 foot spool for $20 (freshwater or saltwater, superfine). Is this what you are referring to? The Stealth and Ultracast versions are braided but appear to use teflon.
Teres still the way to go?
I'm not sure there is a hard delivery date for the Serac. In my conversations with Thom he has been extremely busy of late and balancing a few different projects. Also, I know he is intent on making sure every inch of the Serac is up to his qualit...
Power Conditioners Suited to Digital Front End
He absolutely will and will also work with you to configure it with the most appropriate Oyaide outlets to match to your system. A custom home audition piece, now that is service.
Suggestion for preamp - Spendor's & Cary
I used the Cary V12i with my Spendor 1/2e speakers and at 50 watts triode/100 watts ultralinear that just was not enough power for them. I moved to a 225 watt custom made solid state amp and the difference was not subtle. The speakers really opene...
Power Conditioners Suited to Digital Front End
Pubul57 - look for Topaz/MGE or Xentek isolation transformers. If you're patient you can get them cheap on eBay, but for a reference follow the link:http://www.surplussales.com/Transformers/IsolationXmers-2.html
Phono Stage - Passive Pre- Amp: Results??
More so an issue with resistor based passives that transformer basaed, but still worth while to look into.
Teres still the way to go?
I guess we might all find ourselves in the position of a trapped coyote at some point and do what is necessary to survive. That is why Audiogon exists - I would hold out for a Galibier Serac.
Power Conditioners Suited to Digital Front End
I use a Running Springs as well, but more out of a matter of convenience. If you truly want to use this for digital gear get the best isolation transformer you can afford.
Passive Pre Recommendations
Maybe all you need is something like the EVS or Endler attenuators that connect to the inputs of your amps and allow you to attenuate the signal coming in from your preamp. Both of these products are transparent and work quite well. If you want to...
Anyone listen to an Aesthetix Atlas amp yet?
I heard it yesterday at the LA/Orange County Audio Society meeting. It's impressive physically and Jim White was on hand to talk about the design (Charles Hansen of Ayre contributed from what Jim said) which is a hybrid tube/ss featuring 6SN7 tube...
