Clever Little Clock - high-end audio insanity?
Wellfed...To continue the legal analogy...when there is prima facie evidence against the defendant he is presumed to be guilty unless he presents contrary evidence. In your case being contrary to all laws of science is prima facie evidence.

At least a person who buys this thing gets something useful...a clock to tell time.

Ecruz...In my experience 5 minutes is way overkill. 30 seconds in FAST mode just about nails it. Then I watch in SLOW mode, probably for another 30 seconds just to be on the safe side, but nothing much changes after the FAST phase.
At what point can you hear a Fast or Slow Table?
A fast or slow turntable will affect the pitch of the music. The accepted standard today is 440 Hz for middle A, but there has been wide variation throughout history, and even some variation today. See http://www.uk-piano.org/history/pitch.html. T...
Magnepan MMG or MG12?
Aaronr...For Maggies I would stick with new. They are a unique technology and not easily evaluated as to condition. But if you can, listen to MG1.6 along with the 1.2 and then you decide. Whenever I have bought equipment that was not really what I...

Wellfed...Since you want to be legalistic, let me remind you that the strictest critera (for criminal conviction) is beyond a REASONABLE doubt. This case is a slam dunk.

Ecruz...1. Auto EQ works fine below 80 Hz (regardless of what the manual says). 2. Don't try to get flat response any lower than what your speaker is capable of. If you do you will mostly screw up higher frequencies. 3. I use the "FAST" setting, a...
hum from nearby high-tension wires?
Get yourself some kind of battery powered audio device...a portable radio for example. See if it hums, and what happens as you walk towards and away from the transmission lines. If it doesn't hum, you have a problem with your own system.
Why should some speakers need a big room?
A large speaker system generally has large drivers with some space between them. The sound from the different drivers (at different frequencies) must blend, and the greater the distance between drivers the greater the distance must be between the ...

What exactly does "Hospital Grade" mean?
Albertporter...Of course a tight grip would be important for a heavy PC, but the "Hospital Grade" designation does not seem to offer this feature any better than commercial grade (as you note). When I was involved with heavy (64-pin) connectors an...
