Power for Focal Aria 936
Oh... I know the guy who modified it well. It was the same guy who built it; me. Instead of 24V rails it's got 32V. It's also biased at 1.42 amp instead of the usual 1.3. I also deleted the current limiting BJT's. I'm very happy with it.
Pass labs poweramps
A model would be most helpful. It could be a number of things. Nelson is extremely easy to reach directly. His email address is pretty easy to find. It's usually in the First Watt owners manuals.

I wouldn't call that normal. Nothing in there should be making any popping sounds. Unless you're talking about the metallic ticking and popping sounds it might make as it cools down. My F5 will do that warming up and cooling down.
Speakers costing range of 2500-3500 per pair
Oh... Clearly not in the USA, are you?
Power for Focal Aria 936
If I were you I'd be sniffing out some Schitt and I wouldn't be put off by the price. A LOT of what you're buying with more expensive amps is a very expensive case. My F5 is in a very plain-jane chassis and it was over a third of the cost of the t...
Power for Focal Aria 936
I've got the same speakers. I'm using a modified FW F5. You can drive them with as little as 25 watts with the right amp, but in a large room you're going to want more like 100. That's a lot of power for what you're looking to spend. You really wa...

The only problem with Focal 936's is you aren't having them for $3500. Price after tax and shipping is going to be close to $5000.

Do NOT file, scrape, pry, or otherwise forcibly molest the tip of your iron! You will destroy it. Decent tips aren't copper.

Well lookie there, folks! George and I can agree on something! Class A is the bee's knees!
Why do many discussions about sonic performance disintegrate into technical discusions?
@audiotroy Don't beat around the bush. Just call me out. As far as I can tell a great deal of these debates begin with heated banter about superficial specs. Eventually somebody makes some more technical claims with unequivicating certainty which ...
Integrated amp for Focal Aria 948 speakers? SS or tube
I've got the 936's powered with my own build of a Pass F5. Excellent combo. I think solid state is the way to go with these. No real suggestion as I'm now a shill for class A power.

@georgehifi Oh.... We're going to just resort to half-truths and omissions, huh? Just going to ignore the thermal issues, the low base impedance which is a much bigger problem than a little gate capacitance. And how do you make a simpler circuits ...

@georgehifi Since you're hung up on the doubling power, which you say is impossible, I'll tell you how to do it. Remove the source resistors in the source follower output stage of a MOSFET amp. Guys do that all the time in the DIY world, but you p...

Kalali, I think your right. He just makes it up. Clearly he's never seen the measurements on a Pass amp or any number of MOSFET amps. He doesn't even know that the limiting factor in an amp doubling it's power isn't even the active devices.

@georgehifi Na... I'll be done when I decide. Crack open any of those amps and you'll see significant measures taken in circuitry to discipline the thermal misbehavior of those devices. Maybe I'm just not understanding what you mean as far as "mor...
