bi-wire speaker cables with single wire spkeakers
I guess I've been living dangerously for a long time now. I also stack my bi-wire cables but am careful not to move my speakers at all, never walk near my cables (they're not in a traffic flow area), and I'm sure to really tighten my binding posts...
ESS speakers synergise with valves?
Yes Dave, The 8" Eminense woofers are on that OCS site, the 10" passive radiators I'm going to leave "as is" for now because I had replaced those previously (Only concern was whether the surrounds/edges were deteriorating or not, but they seem OK)...
ESS speakers synergise with valves?
Hi Dave, Yes, Mine are the 8" woofers and they do have the Eminense woofers in that size. My passive radiators are 10" across (only about 8" or so of actual driver size). My only concern with them was whether the surrounds are drying out at all or...
ESS speakers synergise with valves?
Thanks Dave, I've now put that site on my favorites list and I'll be picking up those woofers soon. I may have to call to speak with them about the passive radiators though. Thanks for the insight!
Rel Studio Subwoofer
If you'd like Rel owners to chime in at this point, I for one would be happy to do so. I've had my Stadium 2 for about 8 years so far. It's worked flawlessly the entire time and is typically left ON for 24/7 most of the time. Have had no experienc...
ESS speakers synergise with valves?
I have 35+ year old PS-8A's which I've been meaning to revitalize again. The woofers are shot but the passive radiators had been replaced awhile back. The Heil air motion transformers look OK but we'll see (why shouldn't they be?) I have a Fischer...
AES Cary Sixpacs and Silverline Audio Sonata III
What's your room size and how far are you sitting from them?
Surge protection for SF Line 3
I have had consistently good service from the MIT series line conditioners. I started with the Z-center for all my front end components (amps were plugged directly into the wall), including my SF Line 3 and it has been synergistic and effective. A...
Element Cables vs Signal Cable
Celtic66 makes a strong case. Signal Cable is a no-brainer substitute for people beginning the PC upgrade process because it's very reasonable and shames any stock supplied OEM cable. Once the buyer gets his first taste of how PC upgrades can make...
Silverline Sonata III or Legacy Focus 20/20?
I'm sure we're all pretty sure of that too...
Silverline Sonata III or Legacy Focus 20/20?
Let's see, Tvad, maybe he's still looking!?
Silverline Sonata III or Legacy Focus 20/20?
I'm a Sonata fan, I have the 2's and would like to move up to the 3's when I can swing it. I know what the 2's do well (am very happy w/ mine) and Jimman sounds spot on in his description of the 3's. I can't say I've ever heard the Legacy's but I ...
Words From the Wise
1) Proper speaker placement supplemented by acoustic room treatments patiently and accurately applied is the single most important component in your system. Period. More than which speakers, which source components , or what amp/ pre-amp combinati...
We are normal unlike the rest eh??? ha ha
Great video, Had never seen it before. I agree with Kalan, it's investigative reporter viewpoint should make it an excellent 20 minute introduction to non-audiophiles as to what our hobby really consists of and hopefully can get across to them som...
Cleaning contacts, What first?
This has been a very busy and enlightening thread and I thank you all for your input so far. Rushton, I have isopropyl alcohol but it's "Rubbing" and only 72% pure so I'll have to get a more 'purer' version... Gammajo: thanks for the very informat...
