Creek 5350 SE, Channel Dropout
Ref2, I'm glad Mitch was able to fix yours. As I've written above, mine was an entirely different matter (the computer cable issue) and I had all three computer cables replaced with hand soldered point to point wiring. In any event, the point you ...
Creek 5350 SE vs YBA YA 201
REL2, good luck having the Creek repaired. I sent my Creek 5350SE to Mitch Singerman three times to repair a channel dropout. The first two times Mitch couldn't hear anything wrong with the amp. The third time, he replaced the volume pot and cable...

Btw, you can obtain a schematic from Creek.
Creek 5350 SE, Channel Dropout
Sometimes the problem is not just corrosion. Apparently, either the connection between the pins and the sockets works loose over time, or there is some defect in the ribbon cable itself. I shipped the amp to LA several times for repairs and had th...
Creek 5350 SE, Channel Dropout
It's a common problem with the amp. I'm glad it worked with your amp. It didn't with mine. I tried doing what you did many times over, to no effect. I had to have mine hand wired, and it does sound better than it ever did. Good luck with yours.
Setup vs. Amp/Preamp choice?
I give up.Have a nice life.
Setup vs. Amp/Preamp choice?
Relax, people. I'm not denying anyone's right to enjoy their "hobby." I'm not even denying you your right to obsess over electronic circuits. To each his own.My point is that many of you have turned this "hobby" into a quasi-religious quest. "If o...
Setup vs. Amp/Preamp choice?
Relax, people. I'm not trying to take your toys away. I'm just asking you to chill out, enjoy what you've got and spend your time listening to the music (rather than obsessing over gear). You'll be a lot happier and richer.
Setup vs. Amp/Preamp choice?
The point I'm trying to make is quite simple.Spend as much time trying out any equipment you want to buy - in your own room (not in a showroom or in a friend's room). Move the speakers a few inches this way and that way, move your listening positi...
Setup vs. Amp/Preamp choice?
Mcfarland, if you read my post carefully, you'll see that I said that my comments were true for most systems. Most amps will work fine with most speakers. There are combinations that truly excel, but for most people who have systems in the $5k - $...
Creek 5350 channel dropout?
Yes, all three "computer grade flat cables" were replaced. I did not do this myself, a highly qualified tech did it. I examined his work when I received the repaired unit back, and it looks like the same "point-to-point" wiring you'll find in most...
Creek 5350 channel dropout?
To make a long story short, I had the ribbon cables removed and the connections hard-wired (cost = $250). Apparently the plastic connectors at the free end of the cables sometimes come loose from the pins they fit over. The suggested solution - be...
Right channel cuts out Please Help
Have you considered checking the "quiescent current" of the amp or put another way the voltgage of the amp when not driven by any source? I've tried setting to to specifications and it worked. A final thought: CLEAN EVERYTHING! Make sure all conne...
Right channel cuts out Please Help
I've had the same problem, but with the left channel of my Creek amp. The next time you get the same cut-out in the right channel, try connecting headphones and changing the music source. If the right headphone channel is still out, it's certainly...
Any real improvement w/ Gallo Ref 3.1s?
I read the 6moons article before my post; in fact, the article prompted it.The only "electrical" cross-over is from woofer to midrange at 150 HZ. The crossover from the midrange "balls" to the tweeter is purely "mechanical", i.e. the natural roll-...
