| New Tweak --- Its Fantastic OP's here from downtown. From Mitch and Murray. | |
| Really satisfied??? Or just take the blue pill, stay off the fora, stay out of the stores, and cancel magazines. One covets what he sees. Haha!Hannibal Lecter: No! He covets. That is his nature. And how do we begin to covet, Clarice? Do we seek out things to covet?... | |
| What's on your audio wish list for 2018? Thanks, OP. To you, too.I'm with jmcgrogan2 . Time. And maybe a Lyngdorf, or Legacy speakers, or Audeze LCD4, or a new turntable, or additional room treatments, or an isolation transformer, or or or . | |
| Full-sounding SS amps (besides Pass) Might have been better to ask which are NOT full-sounding. So many recommendations! I'll second the Cary 500mb at the current going rate. Although they are not as quiet or dynamic, I, too, actually prefer them to the newer 500.1. | |
| Most satisfying system change in 2017? Got a lot of stuff this year, but streaming was the biggest change. Tidal and Bluesound Vault 2 added the most--more than new amps, speakers, etc. | |
| Former Tekton owners: What have you moved on to? @james_w514. That’s one of my criticisms of the Monitor, a bit of tubby boomy bass that I don’t find particularly cohesive. This hasn’t been room or amp dependent. Not entirely unlike some cheaper monitors. It’s the midrange speed and detail; the ... | |
| Former Tekton owners: What have you moved on to? Impact Monitors are broken in. I think they are keepers, but they will likely get periodically replaced in "rotation." Keeps things fresh. :)If I had to only have one set of speakers for all purposes, somewhat similar situation with Omegas, the Te... | |
| HOW TO POSITION 2 PAIRS OF SPEAKER FOR ALTERNATE LISTENING @rbstehno @hifiman5 Have you heard an audible impact? It makes sense and functioning as resonators, but many showrooms have multiple sets. I think the effect has to be slight...at least I hope so. | |
| Recommendations for music network player @bonmanp Not to jump in for 2psyop, but I'll second the Bluesound Vault/Node 2 as being good, idiot-proof products with an easy to use app with sound quality that is surprising given the cost (particularly the Node 2). I hope those reviews aren'... | |
| Tekton Double Impacts Yes! 150s, 160s, and beyond. Just nutty. The "high-end" ones wouldn't allow people in the car during the tone tests. Rows of giant caps and Optima batteries. Power cables that make the current high-end AC cables feel self-conscious, in size i... | |
| Tekton Double Impacts Is the frequency a factor in the spl? I'm sure I spent some time in cars that easily hit 135db and higher, but under 80hz, fairly continuous "steady hummin'" in a portion of misspent youth. Loud enough to blur vision, rattle eyeballs, literally ... | |
| DACs and bass response? @paul79. caps? how about a Denafrips Terminator. | |
| Which watts are the right watts in SS amps? Thanks, guys. I guess maybe I like the Camry and what I think is good sound, with the full recognition that there is always better to be had, learned, and tried. :)Turning somewhat back to Jim's inquiry... Any merit to what seems like an easy wa... | |
| Which watts are the right watts in SS amps? I still can't say I understand all of this, even as very knowledgeable and helpful folks are doing their best to dumb it down. I get it that, oftentimes, a speaker with a high, flat impedance and high sensitivity tend to work well with high outpu... |
