A few clarifications to remarks made by Blindjim about my suggestions.First, my "well meaning but abbreviated listing of proposed areas" was not my personal list, but a combined list of suggestions proposed by contributors up to that point in this...

After many years, though, I did myself a favor and replaced them (the MA-1s, that is) with two Sunfire 600s (used) and hooked them up with Marigo Ultra 5 power cords. Jimjoyce25 (Threads | Answers)What speakers are you driving with the Sunfire amps?

08-08-09: PettyofficerSeems to me that it is going to take every ounce of effort in my action plan, just to get anyone to even concider a change in direction! Thus far, you have no action plan. You do have lots of nonsensical ranting about how we'r...

08-08-09: GregfiskI'm wondering if I tried a tube dac like a Havana if this would calm things down.It would likely affect the sound by softening the highs slightly and emphasizing the mids (depending on the tube installed), but you'd be removing r...

To reiterate the Pettyofficer Action Plan for Better Quality Recordings:1) Steam roll over those who are apathetic enablers of the Recording Industry.2) Stop digging. Is there any reason why recording industry executives shouldn't welcome a dialogu...

Thus far, I'm the only one participating here other than the OP who has owned Aerial 7B loudspeakers. I can relate completely with his observations. My Aerial 7B speakers *never* sounded laid back. Not even close. My listening room is carpeted, wi...

08-07-09: PettyofficerI am going to find some way of nailing the Recording Industries carcass to the wall!...I refuse to be the Recording Industries Dog to be kicked around like a Mutt! This is one Demographic that is going to take MP3, and shove ...

As long as an amp produces more decibels into higher impedances (treble region) than into lower impedances (bass region), the speaker will sound louder in the treble. The Butler 2250 has plenty of power to drive the 84db speakers to room filling vo...

I owned Aerial 7B speakers, and drove them with a Bryston 4B SST, Bryston 14B SST, and VAC Phi 110/110. In all cases, I thought the speakers remained on the "bright" side and lacked sufficient bass to balance the top end. While you say you like the...

08-06-09: Uru975It was not so much the public deciding against the hi-rez sound as their makers wanting to make a killing and in doing so almost killed the format.Price was certainly a factor. PS...have you noticed how the prices of out-of-print S...
Pat Metheny Fans, Great Suggestions Please ??
I owned Offramp, New Chatauqua (sp?), and Witchita Falls on both CD and vinyl. In all cases, the vinyl was superior, and by a pretty good margin. Much better dynamics. All the ECM vinyl releases I have owned have been of exceptionally good quality.
