SCD-777ES or SCD-1
Echo Mimberman's suggestion of the SCD-1. It was the first flagship SACD player made, and was intended to make a statement. If you have to choose betwen these two, then choose an SCD-1, and buy one in it's original, unmodified form with box, packin...
Need to replace my Totem Acoustic Arros
Coincident Super Eclipse III, or a similar Coincident speaker. I can't think of many other dynamic speakers that will work with a 20-30 watt tube amp. The aforementioned Zu Audio Druids will work as well.
Can excellent tubes transcend modest amps?
Expensive NOS tubes will make a difference in a modest amp, but they won't overcome a modest power supply, and they won't transform a modest amp into a very good amp the way a better power supply would.IMO, a sure indicator of a great amp is its p...

Help narrow my speaker search. $2500-$3500 used.
Errata: My post above incorrectly links a reviewer's VS/Spectron system to Von Schweikert speaker demonstrations. Two separate circumstances. Greg Weaver did use a Spectron Musician II with VR4 Gen III HSE speakers in his personal system. In 2002 ...

FWIW, Von Schweikert used to demo their speakers with Spectron Musician II amps.Von Schweikert VR4 Gen III HSE are an incredible value at current used prices (and in your price range). Some of the best speakers VS ever made. In the black/black col...

IMO, one issue you have is running your Cary CDP directly to the Spectron amp. You may have an impedance mismatch causing bass roll off in your amp, which will have the effect of making your speakers sound bright because of the lack of bass to bal...

No amp recommendations can be made before your speaker's sensitivity and impedance curve specifications are known.

What are your impressions compared to other Preamps you are familiar with?I think it is very close to the Lamm LL2 Deluxe. Similar qualities. In fact, hearing the Peach made me think of giving an LL2 Deluxe a try in my present system, which is som...

Detail and imaging accuracy is equal on both settings, IMO.It does not have a built in phono. The Blueberry model has a built in phono, but the Blueberry does not have the SuperLo Z output option. It has four inputs, plus a tape loop input. One set...

Senor Wences trivia (scroll down).Wences Moreno was born in Spain and was originally a bull fighter. He was an accomplished juggler...yet most of us Americans old enough to remember Ed Sullivan remember Senor Wences for his sock puppet routine...
BAT, ARC, VAC, Shindo?
I am doubtful you will find anything better. Different for sure.My money's on you regretting making a change, if you make one.Just for kicks, you might research the Juicy Music Peach preamp. I took delivery of a used one today. Cost under $800. Bo...

Juicy Music Peach was received today and installed. Really fun preamp! Very quiet. It has two output impedance settings: SuperLo Z (90 ohms) for use with low input impedance amps (typically SS), and HiZ (3500 ohms) for use with typical tube amps. ...
