Salamander racks?
IMO, anything softer than 50 is too soft for the job.
Salamander racks?
You can buy 1/8" sorbothane sheets (they call it ultra soft polyurethane) from Mcmaster.com for $5. Placing a small piece between your shelves and each metal shelf support will help...and it's inexpensive. I'd suggest 50 durometer.
Small room, "budget priced" speaker advice, please
Totem Arro, Silverline Prelude II or Silverline Minuet are all terrific speakers in your price range (especially if you'll consider used).I believe you could be happy with any of them.
Aesthetix Calypso VS ARC Reference 3
I am absolutely certain Rwwear is wrong. So who is right? There is no possible winner here, and the debate has been driven so far into the ground that it ought to qualify as a nuclear fallout shelter.I am convinced that we all hear differently. Some...
Replacement tonearm for Music Hall
Why not rewire the existing tonearm?
Good sounding 70's live LPs...
If you're into progressive jazz, check out Brand X's "Livestock" (with Phil Collins). Outstanding live recording from the 70s. Joni Mitchell's "Miles of Aisles" is also excellent, but obviously not a rocker.
Aesthetix Calypso VS ARC Reference 3
Oh boy, here we go...
Salamander racks?
I agree with Swampwalker. The Salamander racks are utilitarian, and they look fairly good, but from a audiophile vibration control perspective, they offer very little benefit.I own a Salamander Synergy cabinet, and I tweaked it with a couple of cu...
Pls recommend tube DAC
Paradisea USB+.About $650 delivered from the builder in Hong Kong. Available on E-Bay.
Sony C77ES CD changer
I'm not trying to push the Paradisea, but using it does give one the advantage of having the flexibility of adding a simple computer based source (like a Squeezebox) at some point. The Paradisea has several digital inputs (coaxial, toslink-which t...
Preamp Experiences with Atma-sphere Amps
Tek Line, yes.I haven't heard Scott's previous cords, so I can't say how they compare to the Reference model.
Sony C77ES CD changer
I own the same player. It's the only piece of gear that's remained in my system since 1992.I used it for awhile with a Paradisea DAC, and I thought the sound was really terrific. Warm and musical. More three dimensional than through the analog out...
Preamp Experiences with Atma-sphere Amps
My initial reaction of my system with the MP-1/Pass Labs and Silverline Sonata III (with Dynaudio drivers like your Merlins), was that it was just a bit too crisp sounding and tipped up. Once I changed a couple of power cords on my source and prea...
Preamp Experiences with Atma-sphere Amps
Cool!I have found my MP-1 is sensitive to power cords, BTW. I have used Purist Audio Dominus Ferrox, and I am now trying a new cord from Tek Line (not yet released). Both are outstanding, but they bring differences to the sound.Anyhow, enjoy it......
How much longer will CDs be made?
Agreed.IMO, this is just a topic for open discussion without the possibility of a definitive answer...like so many bar room discussions.
