Thiel Owners

Guys-

I just scored a sweet pair of CS 2.4SE loudspeakers. Anyone else currently or previously owned this model?
Owners of the CS 2.4 or CS 2.7 are free to chime in as well. Thiel are excellent w/ both tubed or solid-state gear!

Keep me posted & Happy Listening!

Congrats, I may have been looking at those very same Thiels myself.....Texas?  I went with Proac instead.  I do think about my old Thiels often though.  If I get a larger room someday, I'll probably look for a pair of 2.4se or 2.7.  Enjoy and keep us posted.

You might consider a Belles amp.  Perhaps the Soloist 1 integrated even.  They have a full, tuneful and robust sound to me that would mate quite nice with Thiels.  However, as a previous Thiel owner, I'd go with a solid state amp, think Levinson, Krell, Conrad Johnson, BAT, Classe or Belles.  Then add a tube preamp which will help to flesh out the sound from the Thiels.  As Thiel's Kathy Gornick was once quoted as saying, " I never heard a Thiel speaker that didn't sound better with a tube preamp."  For cables, go Straightwire, Transparent or MIT.  Keep us posted and enjoy your Thiels.....they're worth it.  Best.
I've had good results with Harmonic Tech and Acoustic Zen, namely the Sartori.  They added a warmth and fullness to the Thiels.  I eventually switched to MIT magnum during my last year or so with my Thiel CS 2 2.  Both brands worked really well I felt depending on which amp I used.  Hope that helps.  By the way, I miss my Thiels.  They certainly may be in my future again if I get a larger listening room.  Take care Jafant and enjoy your journey!

Thx. Jafant.  Are you closer to choosing an amp and cables for your cs2.4se?
Keep us posted.  You're right, I'll get Thiels again.  Will wait patiently for a pair of 2.7s.  Regards....

As a previous Thiel CS 2 2 owner and still a fan to this day, I agree with Jafant.  Good luck!

Jim Thiel was one of the best, if not the best speaker designers!  In a way, under appreciated.  Yet as time goes by, he is justifiably getting his due more and more.  If he had lived longer, Vandersteen would still be in the rear view mirror.  My opinion of course.  Best......

here are his “rules of engagement”:

They are just that...his rules. Don’t seem to apply to him however. I just read this a couple of days ago on AA.

brayeagle...how is this for “self-appointed righteous”?
This is the type of person ( OP ) leading this thread.
Follow him if you want, sheep have to be lead by someone...

You’re entitled to you opinion regarding my post, but I’m no troll. Been here on Audiogon as long as most any of you have if not longer. Just that I don’t live on here 24/7 , no 10,000+ posts for me. I do kinda have a life, ya know.

IMO, this is a comment by real “trash”....
To make a comment like this regarding the late Bobby Palkovich tells me that you are a self-appointed judge regarding morality. No peace to a man that died, huh? You know all about what he was going through do you? You decide who is to receive peace or not? IMO, this is about as low as one can get. Karma’s a hell of a thing.....now go whine to the moderators and have my post deleted. You saw it, got called out for your lowlife comment.....and that was my intention.

aaah! shrouded in self righteousness....

Jafant......just so there's no doubt, it is personal as I knew Bobby, spoke with him numerous times and owned his speakers.
However, what you said shouldn't be said about anyone.  ...And you have the audacity to go around here telling everyone "Happy Listening" and "Merry Christmas"....ya, a real christian kinda fellow.
Just want people here to know who they're dealing with.  Obviously, they can make up their own minds....
