Who has Luv for the Lyngdorf 2170 and is thinking about the 3400.

Hello All,
I’m coming up on 40 yrs in this hobby, and or obsession of ours, and I started with a pair of Khorns and Macintosh at the age of 12 and Offcourse owned a ton of different gear over the yrs.
I bought a 2170 a little more than 6 months ago and I enjoyed it so much that I quickly realized I don’t really need anything else, solid state, tubes,or even dac’s anymore.I could step off that silly merry go round of amplification and just enjoy music.I was able to utilize the extra money and time and put together a really great sounding network audio system that rivaled the best in analog that I have ever had,I was mainly a analog guy all of these yrs but finally gave it up,I even sold my longtime record collection of 3k records which included many Hot Stampers that I purchased and also several that I found on my own.

So who Luv’s the 2170 and is maybe also thinking about the new 3400.

Happy Listening,
Kenny.

I prefer using the 805 D3 bookshelf speakers for my bedroom. Overall, I’m very satisfied and happy with the overall performance of my bedroom setup (B&W 805 D3 paired with the Naim Uniti Nova). But I was just curious how the Naim Uniti Nova would compare to the Lyngdorf 2170 & 3400 on the B&W 805 D3. That’s all. I’m most likely not changing anything in my bedroom setup. Again this is only my bedroom setup. I do have a separate main two-channel setup and system in my dedicated well treated listening room which consists of completely different gears and system using large floorstanders and separate gears with both digital and analog front end source components.

But for my bedroom setup I would like to keep things simple and compact.
Btw, earlier you said the B&W 804 D3 can be had for $5k? cause the new B&W 804 D3 retail for $9k/pair new and the new 805 D3 retail for $6500/pair without the stands.
No. I didn't say you could purchase the 804s for $5k. I said you can purchase speakers that sound much better than the 805s for less than $5k. In fact, you can purchase speakers that sound much better than my 804s for much less than $5k. I know. I've done it. But this isn't the thread for a speaker discussion. Just wanted to clarify my earlier comments since you asked.
Back to your original question... since I've never heard any of the other amps you've mentioned, I wouldn't venture a guess as to if the Lyngdorf would improve the sound of the 805s or not vs them. All I can offer is my experience with my B&Ws. The 2170 did sound better with my 804s vs a number of different amps I auditioned side by side prior to settling on the 2170.
I see. Thanks for the inputs and advises.
But the newer 805 D3 are different from the previous 805 D2 or D1. The newer entire 800 series D3 line are actually quite a bit better and are different than the previous 800 D models. I’ve never liked the previous 800 series D2 or D1 models too.

My Naim Uniti Nova sounded very musical and paired really well with the B&W 805 D3. And again this is only for my bedroom setup, not for my main setup in a dedicated listening room.

For my bedroom setup I initially was going to go with all Linn Klimax DS Exakt system with Linn’s Klimax Exakt stand-mount speakers (all Linn system) but I decided to go with the Naim Uniti Nova and the B&W 805 D3 instead as they are way cheaper. I figured the all Linn Klimax Exakt setup/system are way too expensive for just a bedroom setup. They are Indeed way better than what I have in my bedroom right now but will cost way way too much for just a bedroom setup.

I am seriously considering either the Lyngdorf 2170 or the newer 3400.  My main issue is whether the 2170 could properly drive my speakers (Dynaudio Focus 340, 87 dB sensitivity, 4 ohms impedance). I don't think there would be an issue with the 3400, but of course it's twice the price.

Any ideas from owners of the Lyngdorf 2170?

@recroom The Lyngdorf TDAI 3400 is better beyond the extra power in added features that you may or may not care about, but my speakers are 96db and I bought the 3400. I couldn’t be happier. Call Neal at Sound Science and tell him Jonathan Carcopo sent you. You’ll get taken care of.
