Best Rock Drummers
I just realized there are two pages of responses to this thread that go back to 2006. Someone else picked the same drummer with the same comment that I made (i.e. "...withouta doubt"). Also, I checked the date and noticed it was written on my birt...
Best Rock Drummers
Keith Moon (The Who), without a doubt.
What cd player to choose
Considering your budget, I'd recommend a used Sony (CD/DVD) DVP9000ES. They sell for around $300 used and you get video as a bonus.
High end audio dealer in San Jose, CA
The Analogue Room is your best bet. Great vinyl selection (as the name implies). Although the Audible Difference has reopened in a new location, it is still stuck up and arrogant, IMHO (of course).
Do you use variable speed on your turntable?
What is the point...are you serious? Records aren't cut at approximate speeds, they're cut at 33 1/3 RPM. But, what if they're not? Without a speed/pitch control you're stuck with the sound you hear. Using the control, you can vary the speed which...
Would like your expert opinion please
This thread sounds familiar, and recently familiar at that.Anyway, get the Nakamichi. The PA-5/PA-7s are bulletproof. You'll be glad that you kept your system all Nak. Nothingwrong with the Yamaha but I believe you will be happier with the Nakamichi.
Are CD players dead
This topic has become boring but I feel compelled to make a comment. It is interesting that the poster of this thread mentioned that it was "the owner of the store" who made the comment that CDs are dead. Of course they want you to believe that CD...
Headphone amp combo ideas?
IMHO, Stax are the best you will find. Try them first and it may save yo a lot of time. Not cheap, but worth it! I'm sure you will get many other opinions. Good luck in your search.
Please help a Novice
There's plenty of good advice here already but $300-$500 will buy you a decent entry-level set of speakers at Best Buy. If you're looking for value, look here on Audiogon for used speakers. They depreciate quickly and you will find speakers in you...
Rega, Music Hall or VPI
Of the names you mention, get the VPI, definitely!
Thanks R.E.M.
I just read that R.E.M. is splitting up. Very sad! I was introduced to them by my daughter more than 20 years ago.We have seen them live many times and will miss their concerts. My favorite albums are from their middle-period,Automatic for the Peo...
Does anyone know about SF Stereo and Theater?
As I now recall, Willy was a partner in Stereo Plus (in SF)not SF Stereo. However, he was well connected and may be able to locate the techs that did the mods on your MF DAC.
Does anyone know about SF Stereo and Theater?
Willy Hermann, the very reliable Nakamichi tech, was a partner in SF Stereo. He is now retired but still workingby repairing and rebuilding Nak machines. I'm sure he cansupply the info you need or will know someone who can. You can contact him at ...
Integrated vs pre/power
Good one, Trebejo! Funny, and I agree with your comment.
