Bidding Frustration
I disagree with you. Put yourself in the sellers shoes - and recognize buyers evaporate into thin air without notice all the time. If you wanted to lock up the seller you would need to get an agreement that you wanted a period to consider it and h...
Bypass caps what value should I use.
I have a question first - how do you bypass a cap with another cap? When you put them in parallel (ie like you would to bypass a resistor) you effectively add the capacitance (ie equal to the sum of the 2), which will reduce the highs. To accompli...
How far from the back wall are your speakers?

Is this amp worth selling?
put it up for auction on ebay as is/for repair. You may be surprised how much it sells for.
McCormack DNA-1 has a clank
if this is a "mechanical" sound that comes from the amp itself and not through the speakers, it's not likely to be filter caps. Rather, it sounds like some screws may need tightening on the case or something similar. I think the DNA-1 likes to run...
Ambient favorites
I've always been an Eno fan, but in the past 2 years have really expanded my Ambient catalog. Some of my favorite artists:Eno - he has a lot out - everything in his catalog is worth having and most is even better than "Music for Airports"Harold Bu...
Yusef Lateef Has Died at 92
I love this guy . . . RIP Yusef.
Do Rega arms work well with LP12s?
I've had a few variants of the Rega arm and 2 Linn Ittoks. I would take the Ittok every day over the Regas. The Ittok is far far easier to set up than the Rega. That said, the Rega is a great arm and I can't see why it won't work on an LP12. I jus...
Transformer issue B&K CS 117?
I do. I haven't finished fixing mine but I purchased a 12V-0-12V CT transformer at Radio Shack. I have either a bad cap or diode on one side that I need to fix before I can see how the RS transformer does. The Voltage is correct - I can tell you t...
Mono amps and different length speaker cables
Not sure if it's clear to everyone that he is apparently referring to biwiring, with one length going to one section of each speaker and the other length going to the other section of each speaker.this was not at all clear to me, and if it had bee...
Mono amps and different length speaker cables
I've never tried it . . . may or may not be noticeable, but why would you do that? I wouldn't unless it was very temporary.
Lexicon MC-1; DC-1 Power supplies
If it's not a fuse (check that first), it's very likely the PSU. You can verify with a VOM meter if you know how. I don't recall exactly what the connections are, but you should be able to trace where the PSU power output connects to the main boar...
Vintage Wharfdale speakers?
60's vintage Wharfdales were my first stereo speakers ever, and I still have them. I always hated the sound, but loved the cabinet work. About 10 years ago after seeing them take up space in the house for the previous 20 years I pulled out all the...
