Looking to get TT
If TWL agrees, I will take the creature on steroids on a road trip to Appalachia sometime next fall. How about that?
Looking to get TT
I finally read what you meant. You need to prove me wrong. Just pasting what I posted and declaring it ridiculous doesn't cut it. I can advance that I learned #1 from Dejan V. Veselinovic, one of Europe's most knowledgeable audio writers http://ww...
The Best kept Secret in Speaker Cables please?
Hmmm...in my system (and Lak's) the Pure Note speaker cable was closer to the cryo'ed 65 cents a foot military wire than to the Ridge Street Audio silver ribbon. Much closer...I remember telling Lak a few weeks ago under which circumstances someon...
The Best kept Secret in Speaker Cables please?
Yes, people here set themselves up asking questions without knowing what they want or in which direction their systems are headed...Regarding speaker cables, I had the opportunity to audition ( in my own system ) Lak's Midnight Silver Edition by R...

Ludicruous? I apologize for saying that vibration gives warmth to the Music Halls. It is actually the particle board, which magically vibrates at room temperature and gives that characteristic & beautiful "warm" sound...Come on, Roni--use your...
Looking to get TT
Tom, it's vibration (both internal and external). It gives that midbass and below "warm, beautiful sound"...I tell you, I can walk on my springy floor and the creature is resting on an IKEA Lack tabletop with its spiked screws and nothing happens-...

TWL, why do you think the Music Hall TTs are "warm" sounding?Hint: my creature on steroids is neutral sounding...********************OK, some clarifications:1) I have learned that phono stage is more important than TT. My next step is to send my p...
Lost sheep, Back to LP Turntable: buy guidance
There is someone here who's an EE and into modding everything he gets a hold of: Nightdoggy. He told me that he's upgraded his 1200's quartz lock circuit board. He says that drift and instability have been reduced to negligible levels...Tom, I thi...

Well, Viridian is back from space travel! Yes, there are Vulcans, Klingons and Viridians...Anyway, any comments on that EMT rim drive? Bill P. told me is so strong it can be rigged with a cutterhead!Tom, I will work on Lak--otherwise he'll go for ...

"Regarding TTs, I believe it's the 1200 and then the Teres. I would not consider anything else in between."That's what I wrote. Now the Teres doesn't play 45's, that's a limitation. The modded 1200 sounds extremely good. The tonearm lacks some contr...

Tom, I forgot to add this: the 1200's motor is DC. Kevin has developed an outboard power supply in order to further improve the speed and rotational stability and to eliminate the vibrations caused by the internal transformer, which get worse as i...

Elizabeth, this is how I look at things: I believe audio has "quantum leaps". One might have a component that is better than another, but how much better? For example, our beloved Forté 4. There are certainly better amps, but how much would we hav...

Sean, when I have my audio room setup and my 1200 fully modded I will invite ewe to come listen to the creature. Robert of Ridge Street Audio will do the rewiring and the interconnect replacement. Too bad ewe don't like fish--there's plenty of fre...
Best relatively Compact Speakers in $2000 range??
I have a biased opinion: Modwright Swans M1. The more I use them the more they impress me! You'll get 40-45 Hz bass response no sweat. The mod is $700 but definitely worth it.

The creature on steroids should be in your short list. If you look objectively at what it offers, you'll see it is really hard to beat for the money. It is by far superior to the glass and particle board TTs and with the tonearm fluid damper its p...
