Harshness in tweeters: the price of transparency?
I'm one for letting each person decide for himself how loudly he wants to listen.Personally, I find it hard to enjoy some music at 85dB, whereas other music is fine at that level.AC/DC at 85dB just doesn't cut it.

Good point, Seasoned.
Affordable interconnect for warm system
Why not try the Audio Art IC-3SE?Or, perhaps a tube change might work better.
How do you connect your single wire and jumpers ?
I connect the single wire first (spades). Then I connect the jumpers (Z-banana type on the low posts and spades on the upper posts). I had the jumpers custom made in that configuration so I wouldn't have to sandwich the spades. It works for me. It ...

I noticed the speaker specs I copied into my post above were incorrect. These are yours, yes?Micro Utopia Be 2-driver, 2-way, ported-box speakerDrivers: 1" pure-beryllium inverted-dome tweeter, 6.5" W-cone wooferFrequency response: 50Hz–40kHz, +/-...
Harshness in tweeters: the price of transparency?
From Stereophile:The Focal-JMlab Diva Utopia Be's ported enclosure was tuned to approximately 27Hz, with minimum impedance of 3.38 ohms at 100Hz. I would judge this speaker to be of average difficulty to drive for any amplifier comfortable with a ...

Perfect stocking stuffer for Uncle Jed Clampett.

Hope I ordered the right one!
Cheap tweak from Virtual Dynamics:
It does say 10 ft.-lbs on the ad I recently saw. Rick was using one in the VD video, and he mentioned it goes down to 6 lbs. He uses it to adjust gun stocks on his high end target guns. Guess I'll find out when I receive the wrench. If 10 ft-lbs i...
Cheap tweak from Virtual Dynamics:
I bought a Wheeler online from an outdoor sporting goods supplier. For some reason, I believe the equal torque on all the screws is as important as the brass screws. The screws are certainly the least expensive part of the overall tweak.Of course,...
Cheap tweak from Virtual Dynamics:
I plan to first try uniformly tightening the stock screws using the Wheeler Fat Wrench as demonstrated in the video. If that proves useful, then I'm going to look into the brass screws.
Looking for a very focused power cord
You did mention the Accuphase and Wytech. I thought perhaps you were also using them elsewhere.Thanks.
Porcupine Tree release that equals Lightbulb Sun?
Lightbulb Sun on CD is an outstanding recording. I suspect it will be even better on DVD-A.
Harshness in tweeters: the price of transparency?
One or two observations. The Focal Micro Utopia Be are 89dB with a 3 ohm minimum impedance (8 ohm nominal). As such, they require an amplifier that doubles output into 4 ohms, which neither your Redwine 30.2 or SET amp do, the result being frequen...
Do DACs break down less than a CD player?
DACs have no moving parts, unlike transports, so they're unlikely to break down. However, you still need a transport to play CDs with a DAC, so I don't see how a separate DAC is going to significantly lower the chance for break down of your CD play...
