PHONO-Hagerman's Cornet or Wright Sound WPP200C
The Wright WPP200C is excellent - make sure to get a good step-up if using MC cartridges, such as Lundahl or Cinemag.Restock (System | Threads | Answers)Perhaps you mean if using low output MC cartridges? I used a .8mv Benz Micro Ace Medium, and n...
Preamp Deal of the Century
10-01-07: AmandaraeHello Tvad,Sorry to hear that it did not work for you. Does the Cortese have a slider switch to choose load settings? Just in case you miss it, when you load the Benz at 24 ohms using the resistor, is the setting on the main pre...
Preamp Deal of the Century
Well, I tried the 24 Ohm RCA loading plugs, and the result was not what I had hoped. Things still sound tizzy, and the 24 Ohm plugs make the sound drier. The match between the Benz Micro Ace medium and my Wright WP200C was superior. I just sold th...
Preamp Deal of the Century
Yes, Abe. North Hollywood.Previously, I made several sets of RCA loading plugs using 1/2 watt resistors. Today, the electronics store did not have 24 Ohm 1/2 watt resistors, so I purchased 1 watt resistors instead. Hope that won't make a difference.

That's a good idea, Abe. Thank you.
What do you think about this statement
Your friend displays a lack of appreciation for individual preferences and differences. To his ears, Naim is more musical. To someone else's ears, it's not. There is no best, or most musical, or anything...Enjoy what you have.
Preamp Deal of the Century
Hi Abe. My Cortese does not have a phono gain pot. It was made before this feature was added. I wish I had it, though.

Preamp Deal of the Century
I love the Cortese. My instinct tells me the gain is a just a little too high for my .8mv cartridge. I don't have the same issue if I run the table through my Wright Sound WP22C phono pre with dual mono gain controls. Just sold the Wright phono pr...
Preamp Deal of the Century
I am using Mullard 6922 (replaced the EH 6922) and the stock Philips SQ 6688. EH 6SN7 are used in the line stage.

What are the typical cartridge output specs for those using Supratek preamps? I'm using a Benz Micro Ace .8mv, and it seems just a touch hot in the highs...even loaded down to 100ohms. Wondering if the Cortese (without cartridge gain control featu...
Ever hear a power cable make a huge difference?
OK. Best of luck to the Fusion Audio folks.
Ever hear a power cable make a huge difference?
09-29-07: SherodTvad,Yes, the $1,200.00 is their suggested retail, but as they are a new company, they are selling all their cords at substantially lower introductory prices in order to get them out in good systems.Apparently similar to the Electr...
Ever hear a power cable make a huge difference?
And what is really a neat thing for me and other budget conscious audiophiles is that the Fusion cords are less expensive than these well-known cords which they bested.Sherod (Threads | Answers)A five foot Fusion Audio Impulse power cord is $1200....
Interconnects for TT
Frankly, the Mogami interconnects sold by KAB Acoustics for $20 a pair are excellent, but like most anything in this hobby one can go nuts with expensive wire. I have...and still do. I also own a pair of the Mogami.
