Interconnects for TT
My understanding is that a two conductor, shielded IC is best if using RCA connectors, and that a low capacitance IC is best for MM cartridges. MC cartridges are unaffected by capacitance in interconnects. So, the answer to your question depends on...

Thank you Snopro.

Who is the authorized USA Supratek technician, and what is his contact info, please? Mick told me he had one, but he did not provide his name nor his contact info.
PHONO-Hagerman's Cornet or Wright Sound WPP200C
I have no other suggestions based on the few phono preamps I've owned.

09-22-07: ViclondonThe only thing I still don't get is if the by-pass is allowed both when the Chardonnay is on and when it is off.If the bypass works like the bypass in the Cortese, then use it only with the preamp turned off. Using it with the p...
PHONO-Hagerman's Cornet or Wright Sound WPP200C
IMO, the WPP200C is a classic. Great dynamics. Great tone. Extremely flexible. Also, the Wright products are hand made by one of high end audio's true gentlemen, and they tend to retain their value.I admit I have no experience with the Hagerman pro...
PHONO-Hagerman's Cornet or Wright Sound WPP200C
The WPP200C is on par with (and perhaps better in some regards) the phono in my Supratek Cortese, and that's high praise. The Cortese's phono section is one of the preamp's big selling points. Many own the Cortese solely for it's phono. One advanta...

No tape switch on the top right front. That's an input mute switch.Inputs on my Cortese go: Phono, CD, Tuner, Aux1, Aux2. Corresponding to positions on the rotary selector #1 (far left) through #5 (far right).
Knowing Nothing About Capacitance...
With the cart's >20 Ohm load impedance, and the Denon's 100 Ohm loading, the match should be very, very close to being spot on, I would think. If the load is too high, the bass could lack a little weight and the highs might sound tizzy. If the l...

09-20-07: Maril555Correction:Cortese doesn't need to be on. HT bypass is completelypassive. Just flip the switch towards the back.Thanks. That helps. I observed bad juju when flipping the HT switch with the preamp on.So, the HT RCAs are inputs, co...

Also, you can look up almost any cartridge on Cartridge Database.com and see the loading recommendation as well as weight and compliance specs.BTW, 100 Ohms is a pretty low default loading value, IMO. Most phono sections default at 47kOhms, and so...

You can change the load by using simple Y adapters and some loading plugs made from male RCA connectors and resistors of different values. I use this method with excellent results. These are the adapters:Dayton Y AdapterYou simply plug the loading...
Good way to connect 2 subs?
You only need one RCA to each sub since one sub is playing the right channel and the other the left channel. It sounds like you're sending a stereo signal to each sub, which is redundant with two subs. In other words, you don't need the Y connectors.

Thanks, Powers. I find the switches worke best toward the rear of the preamp, and I also have my selector knob on the lowest gain setting. My amps are VAC Standard 160 monoblocks, and are high gain them selves.I love this Cortese. Simply amazing! ...
