@bimasta, I love NOS Tung-Sol AU12's. I find them to have tonal purity, good extension, and a slight but pleasant tube bloom.

I like that Deezer offers the original recordings in addition to the remastered albums. I've seen this for much of the rock catalogue and some jazz.
A DAC that can make digital sound analog?
I’m using a NOS Audio Note 2.1 Signature with reclocker and can easily hear differences in recordings and mastering; ie, original flat CD transfers vs. remasters vs. modern loud CDs.Many CDs have the "wall of sound" compression, early CDs typicall...

@gdnrbob, I only signed up on Feb. 14, I wasn't special enough to get an invite. I'm using the 16/44 service for the trial period with no issues. If you are using Sublime+, then maybe the hirez files are a problem for Bluesound.I've run my Node 2i...

Classical catalogue is way better than Tidal and Deezer. Qobuz has the same popular releases but much more in depth with lesser known recordings in addition to some of the great maestros from years past.

@n80, OK Ebay makes more sense. I agree with you on all points.
CD no more produced?
@n80, good plan. I've built up a  good Redbook playback. May I suggest looking at Discogs for the best quality used CD's. There is reference material relating to date and country of pressing, record label, original issues, early pressings, remaste...
Refurbished Bluesound Vault 2
The device may operate better on 5gHz due to less traffic; less dropouts, less skips. Most wireless devices around the home/work are using 2.5gHz. It's connectivity, not audio quality.
A DAC that can make digital sound analog?
I love R-R tape. I used it for years in studios, I'd love to have it in my home system. I've been told CD transfers sound terrific on tape.
A DAC that can make digital sound analog?
Brett, hearing tape hiss on albums from this analague era is a good thing. It means there is minimal compression during the mastering process. With the natural noise floor of the recording intact, we hear the ambience of the room and separation of...
