Tekton Design's new THE PERFECT SET equals "goosebumps time"
OH NO, not another Tekton thread (complete with fanboy testimonials)! Please Tekton, just pay for an ad here.  I’m no hater, just trying to understand why there are suddenly so many threads, complete with gushy testimonials about Tekton products. ...
What responsibility does a seller have to tell a customer an item has been serviced?
This post is the definition of “caveat emptor,” or is it simply buyer’s remorse. In any case, the OP is expecting too much from a simple stereo transaction. We all have similar stories, but to answer your question, if the piece functions well then...
Is anything better than the Accuphase T-100?
You can google, “Tuner Information Center” and you will find reviews of almost every tuner made. Remember, that it’s just someone’s opinion but very useful if you are making a serious analysis. FWIW, if I recall, it purports that a vintage Kenwood...
Take a chance on Piegas?
Used speakers, even well-known major brand speakers, sell for a fraction of their original MSRP. My advice would be to spend that $3K budget on a used pair. You’re very smart to consider resale value in advance. Big brands, at big discounts, are w...
I’m going thru McIntosh he!!
FWIW, my experience with an MVP 871 is similar. I bought it as a demo from Magnolia. Due to its age, McIntosh refused to honor the warranty that had been promised by Magnolia. Magnolia did cover it for repairs and we sent it back twice. The bottom...
It was 50 years ago today....
Say what you want, but I doubt that there will ever be another band which such universal appeal. Fifty plus years later and we’re still listening. I’m not really a fan of their early cover songs, but Rubber Soul, Revolver, Abbey Road and the White...
Agon is now a retail outlet.
None of this is news. I have done many transactions here, always buying, and I have not had a bad experience. This site probably, well definitely, has been taken over by retailers. But, there are serious audiophiles selling their stuff here as wel...
8 track CRUSHES CD,Vinyl and everything else!!!
I agree that cassettes are a great medium. That probably explains why Nakamichi cassette decks are one of the few used stereo components where prices are escalating.
Dragon, RX-505 or DR-2 ?
I sold my CR-7A probably 15 years ago as well, and my Dragon and ZX-9 too sometime later. I regret selling any of them. The good news is that they’re all still available somewhere on the internet. You just have to accept that you have to dig a lit...
WADIA
Congratulations! I’m hoping it works perfectly for many years. I may pull the trigger on one someday. With my luck, it would work for a month and the transport or laser would need replacement. It’s not the money, it’s trying to find a competent te...
Dragon, RX-505 or DR-2 ?
Buying the RX-505 was a good choice, especially at that price. If you decide that cassettes are your thing, you can always move up to a Dragon if you need what it offers. I’m betting you will be happy with your purchase. When I bought my RX-505, t...
Dragon, RX-505 or DR-2 ?
Congratulations! I would take nrenter’s advice and look into service. It’s worth the money.
WADIA
Who doesn’t want a Wadia? I’m no expert but I have paid attention when one was being used at audio shows I’ve attended. I was told once that the line included a 3,5 and 7 series, at that time, so the 3 series was probably the least expensive. Agai...
Dragon, RX-505 or DR-2 ?
I can only relate my experience. Although I don’t know the DR-2 I have owned the Dragon (that I bought from Willy Herman), and an RX-505 (serviced by Willy). Both machines worked flawlessly, and I still have the RX-505. I couldn’t hear much differ...
New Sonus Faber Electa Amator 3...anybody heard these yet?
I haven’t seen the newest version, but the first (and probably the second, as well) were works of art. At $5500 (in 1990), they were a bargain. I’ll reiterate that used, early-version Sonus Faber speakers are a great investment. You won’t be disap...
