How much do I need to spend to get a preamp that sounds better than no preamp?
@mrdecibel An active stage with gain is a good buffer by itself. Typically a pure buffer is just a gain stage giving you current gain, which translates directly into a lower output impedance. Benign, resistive loads like volume attenuators are ver...

@georgehifi You're such a tool. You really are. All you can do is keep barfing up the same quotes to bolter the same poor understanding. I crunched the numbers the other night on the Aleph L. No matter how you figure, the gain stage contributes to...

@georgehifi I'm pretty sure you got taken to task on that jazz already. No matter how you cut the cake, a buffer is going to provide more ideal impedance matching. You seem to love banging on about Nelson Pass. Maybe you should go watch his BAF le...
Pass labs X250.5 cracking noise
My build of the F5 runs between 155F to 160F and that thing is making pinging sounds 10 minutes after you turn it on. The amp cools itself be convection draft. If one side is close enough to something to alter the natural flow of convection you'll...

Who cares what Nelson Pass thinks of Mitch's preference for an active stage? Absolutely none of his current products feature a passive attenuator. Clearly he thinks a buffer or gain stage sounds better.
Focal Kanta No.2
I wouldn't think twice about putting them in a room that big. I wish I had that for my 936's.
Is Velodyne gone?
tutetibiimperesThis is where Elon Musk is an asshat. He genuinely cannot think or something. Giving the driver less to do with the operation of the car isn't going to make more attentive drivers. I honestly can't stand that fool. I knew he was and...

I'm certain it's the amp warming up and nothing more. I had to re-read the posting date on this because somebody posted something almost identical about a pair of Pass amps a while back.
Anyone Using Bose 901 speakers In A Home Theater?
No... They really didn't sound great ever. Blose sued Consumer Reports for their scathing review of them. J. Gordon Holt had mixed things to say about them and ultimately concluded that they were outclassed by their competition.
Talk but not walk?
Prof hits the nail on the head. If he is legit, and I'm skeptical given the arsonist's-best-friend power strip, he sure sells his warez like a snake oil salesman.

@georgehifi No big thing.
Is Velodyne gone?
I have no faith that self-driving cars will happen in my lifetime. Musk hocks some watered down version in his cars that can't tell the difference between the sky and a truck, but I have yet to hear of a commercially viable vehicle that really doe...

@georgehifi Sorry, buddy. I don't drink. I never have. Looks like you're just making nonsense up again.
Lightspeed Attenuator - Best Preamp Ever?
@georgehifi Couldn't optos be used for switching sources?
Furutech GTX NCF receptical break in, how long
@paulcreed You're kind of a bully. You demand I answer to questions when you don't answer mine. Guess we'll both wait.Go ahead and post your problem. You have my word I won't interject so much as one letter.
