| Best Tonearm Match for Shelter 901 Brian, the OL Illustrious has a VTA adjustment screw on the base, very similar to your Linn Ittok. The anti-skate bias is set with a weight on a thread, just like the older SME arms used to have. This is very simple, and reliable. No big deal. As ... | |
| Best Tonearm Match for Shelter 901 Hi Bwhite. I am the one that is espousing the opinions about the unipivots not being ideal with the Shelter. It is not a matter of whether they will work, but how well. I'm sure that there are many unipivot owners out there using low compliance ca... | |
| Desperately seeking the elusive tube sound Marakanetz, the best cartridge for that tonearm would have to be hand built from rare exotic balsa wood, and tipped with the needle from the agave cactus, found primarily in the Oaxacan area of Mexico. The coils must be wound from the conductive g... | |
| Phono Stage for passive preamp control I have also seen used IO phono stages at around $2500. But I didn't mention them, because they have no volume control, and when you add the Bent Unit, you are around $3500. If you can stretch up to that level, then you couldn't do any better than ... | |

| Records are better. I actually heard it Yes, I understand. The LP selection is not as wide as CD, for the new releases. Regrettable, but true. | |

| Records are better. I actually heard it I always thought that the smell of flea market albums was a status symbol. It means you got a killer vinyl collection for a fraction of its original cost. I like that smell. | |
| Records are better. I actually heard it You mean I'm really not crazy after all? :^)Actually, I think you are doing just fine, and let your ears be the judge. There have been alot of recommendations on this board over the months and years, and you can do a search of the archives for man... | |
| Arm for Sota Star Sapphire/ bearing vs. uni-pivot The arm and cartridge are a pair, that needs to be considered together. The arm you choose, will dictate the types of cartridges that you can use with it. You cannot just slap any cartridge onto any arm.I have always preferred gimbal-bearing arms,... | |

| System for a teenager Albert, you might take a look at the Jolida JD302B tube integrated amp. It has 50 wpc, and uses EL34 tubes which I know you like. It has a retail price of only $950, and also has a very attractive appearance. I also read an interview somewhere onl... | |
| Should reviewers post their hearing test results? I think the reviewers are publishing their hearing tests. It is evident whether they can hear or not, by the review that they write. If they give a good review of a product that we know is not so good, then we know what their hearing is like. |
