Ideas on speaker like Magnepan but with high WAF
Not sure about high WAF, but there are a pair of smaller Apogees (Caliper) for sale here:http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=107829.0Smaller than Maggie's and, in my mind, better sound overall.
Replacement for VPI TNT mark v
I had a similar issue with space years ago. I solved it by having a plinth made from Corian in the dimension (and color) I wanted. Worked like a charm (see my systems pictures to see if this would work for you).Enjoy,Bob
Review: McCormack DNA-250 Amplifier
In general, from my experience, the original DNA .5, 1 and 2 were good souonding amps. The Mccormack mods to rev A status transformed them into great amps. Exceptional even. The 150, 250, etc amps incorporated much of the Rev B mods, and as such th...
Turntable Platform - What do you place your TT on
Make a cheap mans Ginko Cloud. Just get a maple cutting board of an appropriate size. Then buy a bunch of squash balls on Amazon or at your local sports store (if they carry them). Place them judiciously with more under heavy parts of the shelf an...

Turntable Platform - What do you place your TT on
There is no real reason that it has to be placed high on a rack. It could be placed on the floor, on top of some cinder blocks or something equally massive. Unless of course you have animals or little children running around.
Magico Q7 . . . wow
"Like better" is also in the ears of the audiophile. I personally like/love my Apogees, but they do not have the bottm end slam of a good cone speaker, let alone the Magico's. Would I replace them with Magico's? Not unless someone was offering me ...
Stylus Drag
Yes, the only way to set the speed is with the needle in the groove. You are trying to make it perfect for the conditions in which you listen. You don't listen with the stylus on the tonearm mount, do you?As for MC's having more drag ... I can onl...
is ayre qb-9 dac better than cx7e mp?
Is there a way to put someone on "auto-ignore" on these forums?
is ayre qb-9 dac better than cx7e mp?
I can say the same about my CX7e-MP
Outdoor opinions?
I also run Niles speakers. They sound great, but I do find that I need to put on the loudness button to get sufficient bass when outdoors.
Absorb or Diffuse in between speakers?
I have heard cone speakers and horns sound best when there is some absorption between them, meaning the image solidifies in the center and the depth increases. However, with panel speakers diffusion seems to work best.Unfortunately, I think the re...
Acoustic Zen Adagio + REL Strata iii's
The Acoustic Zen speakers have a transmission line bass, if I remember correctly. You definitely need a sub with them if you are looking for some kick in the bottom end. The Strata III should add that for you nicely.Congrats.
Prog Rock
Sounds like an interesting group of musicians, kind of a super-group. I know Neal was auditioning people for another band he was putting together, but I'm sure that's yet another project outside of this one.Bottom line - there's lots of good prog ...
